Toshiba to Boost 56nm NAND Flash Memory Output in Japan
March 09, 2007
Japan's Toshiba has devised plans to hike the output of 56-nanometer NAND flash memory chips to approximately 67,500 units by September 2007 at its third domestic plant in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture. This move will advance Toshiba's production schedule by three months, and the 56-nanometer chip production will constitute 50% of the total output at that facility.

Meanwhile, Toshiba's fourth domestic memory chip plant is undergoing an overhaul as well, in a bid to boost its monthly capacity by 40% to 200,000 units. The plant in question is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2007.
